Bajaj Motors workers go on strike

Gurgaon, Feb 24 (IANS): Nearly 700 workers of Bajaj Motors went on strike, demanding revocation of the suspension of 15 company workers here Monday.

The workers of Bajaj Motors in Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway suspended work protesting the company management's step.

"Management was illegally forcing us to sign an undertaking from the last one week, we opposed the step," said a worker union leader.

"The workers union president of the company was suspended by the management nearly a year ago and was not taken back despite several assurances."

"The management ignored our demand notice too. As we put pressure on the management to take back the union leader to work, 15 workers, including five union leaders, were suspended Monday. We are protesting it and demanding that our colleagues should be taken back," he added.

The workers threatened to intensify their protest if their demands were not met.

Heavy police force was deployed in the factory premises to avoid any untoward incidence.
