Meerut, Feb 25: Policemen have peppered themselves all across the city of Meerut, guarding it against it the leopard that got free and is roaming the streets. The leopard has thus far attacked eight people and still managed to stay away from the clutches of the police. Reportedly it was last seen jumping out of a hospital on Sunday night.

The police, fully equipped to tranquilise the giant cat, are trying to track leopard prints. The leopard is believed to be quiet irritated and therefore more of a threat. A random shot fired in the air caused the leopard to jump off a rooftop and enter a hospital wherein the cat is believed to have entered a ward which housed five patients. The hospital staff managed to evacuate the patients and lock the animal in. Wildlife officers managed fired tranquiliser darts at the animal but it is believed to have eluded them and escaped through a window.

Meerut is surrounded by thick forests and wild cats that reside in these dense vegetations have been known to have entered human territory, often in search of food. The Police have been at this task of attempting to nab the leopard since Sunday morning when it was first spotted in a crowded area within the city. It attacked two men that first time that it made an appearance. Six more have been hurt since because of the wild cat.
