Ahmedabad, Jan 12: Aamir Khan starrer Fanaa was withdrawn on Monday from a theatre in Jamnagar, after a man attempted immolation as a mark of protest.
Yash Raj Films has requested the theatre to stop screening the film, the owner of Ambar theatre, Vimal Madam said.
"Following their direction, we have decided to withdraw the film from theatres," he said. Madam also said they were not interested in earning money in such a way when a man is forced to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, the condition of 30-year-old man Pravin Joshi, who tried to immolate himself inside the toilet of Ambar theatre, was critical but stable.
Senior doctor of Guru Govindsingh Hospital, Abhishek Soni, who is examining Joshi, said, "At present, he is conscious and is able to talk."
BJP workers are staging a sit-in at the Lal Bangalow chowk of Jamnagar. "We will later take out a rally up to Amber cinema hall and burn effigies of Congress as Vimal Madam is screening the film due to the backing of Congress MP Vikram Madam," said BJP State Youth Wing Secretary, Umang Pandya.
Ambar theatre in Jamnagar was the only cinema hall in Gujarat that was screening Fanaa.
