BJP announces alliance with Chandrababu Naidu's TDP

Hyderabad, Apr 6 (NDTV): Despite opposition from local leaders, the BJP today finally announced a deal with Chandrababu Naidu for the national and state elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Seven of 10 district presidents from the party had reportedly threatened to resign if that happens. But the partnership could propel the BJP closer to the 272 seats it needs to form the next national government.

Naidu, 63, heads the Teulgu Desam Party or TDP. He was cagey about whether he supports the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, which was sanctioned recently by Parliament. The region of Telangana will be born as India's 29th state on June 2.

Naidu is expected to be spurned by Telangana voters for not championing their cause. For the same reason, he is likely to be rewarded in the regions of Seemandhra that will form the down-sized Andhra Pradesh.

These areas have aggressively opposed the new map, not least because they will grapple with a reduced share of water and revenue from Telangana.

The BJP will contest eight of the 17 parliamentary seats in Telangana and five of the 25 seats in Seemandhra.

NDTV's opinion poll shows a big leap for Naidu in Seemandhra; his party gets 14 of the 25 parliamentary seats at stake, according to the forecast. That's a gain of 10 seats from 2009. It will also give him the majority he needs to be Chief Minister of theresiduary state.

The opinion poll forecasts that of the 17 seats in Telangana, the Congress and K Chandrasekhar Rao of the TRS will get seven each. The TDP lands two.

All those who termed Mission 272 as impossible, slowly are reconciling with the fact...still last moment conspiracies are being hatched with Bukharis & Cobras. Everything will fall flat this time & India will win. All Indians can unite & join in this victory to make a new begining to reclaim this country's position as a "vishwaguru".....majority-minority chodo yaar..Abki baar Modi Sarkaar.

A proposal first as usual and then long awaited "Engagement" or call it a "Marriage" is fixed with a "Deal" finally!!!.

Honeymoon etc. to be seen in the coming days.!!!

India is watching Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's party TDP and Mr. Rajnath Singh's party BJP's much delayed/discussed alliance.!!!

Soniaji's loss is someone else's profit just because her government UPA II kept their long pending promise/word to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

To pass this "Critical Bill" in last parliament this same BJP party made all kinds of "Tamasha's"(hue and cry) to pass/support this bill, the same way they will have to reap their fruits also.!!!

Good Luck to Telangana & Seemandhra.

Not bolti bandh. Let FEKU become PM & then see how this Chandra babu Naidu make him dance.
Naidu wants to become hero of Andhra by attracting Central Govt fund to the state(because the revenue generating sources have gone to Telangana part & Andhra should start afresh). None of the Govt can fulfill their demands, which are huge. When FEKU reject his demands & Naidu start threatening Govt, then your Bolti will be bandh for sure.

TDP during NTR's period was a main alliance of NDA.With TDP's entry NDA is expected with 300 seats. We need a strong and able government at center.Modiji only can give us good government. The critics of Modiji should understand they are also benefited by he being our PM.

This alliance is with expected lines. Because both the parties have similarities. Mr. Naidu rejected his Father-in-Law and party chief NT Ramarao the same way BJP has done to its Party Patriarch LK Advani.

Wilfred Fernandes, Vamadapadavu/Dubai I am amused with your comparision. However you are entitled to your views. On a realistic view for your sake, this tie up is in fact mutually beneficial to both BJP & TDP. BJP has no great standing in Seemandhra where Naidu is very strong & has deep roots. In Telengana however it is reverse, so its win win for both of them. Furthermore BJP gets seats added to the Southern Tally in addition to Karnataka & in TN. Kerala however there is no hope due to highly polarised nature in the UDF-LDF scenarios

Dear Wilfredji, rejected by Father-In-Law, we can understand fully!!! Whereas rejected by Mother-In-Law but agreed as Party Chief then endorsed all wrong doings of Son-In-Law is somewhat cannot be digested by any Indian!!! This is somehow we can call “Mishra Milana”
