Showers worry farmers in Agra

Agra, April 18 (IANS): A change in weather with intermittent showers since early Friday morning has set farmers worrying in this region as they are yet to finish harvesting wheat crop.

"The bundles of harvested wheat lying open in the fields could get damaged. In areas where the crop is still to be harvested the yield could be adversely affected," said Ravi Singh, farmer in Barauli Aheer village.

Bright sunshine at this stage would have been very helpful, but the overcast sky for the past few days is a matter of concern for farmers in this agriculture belt.

"Thunder, hail... have hit the farmers badly," said Atar Singh of Malpura village.

The weather office has forecast similar conditions for the next few days.
