Less likely for Iranians to enter Iraq: Rouhani

Tehran, June 14 (IANS): It is less likely that Iranian forces will enter Iraq to fight terrorism, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday.

"If the Iraqi government officially asks us to help them to counter terrorism in their country, Iran is ready to help within the international regulations," Xinhua quoted Rouhani as saying.

Sending Iranian forces to Iraq "has not been considered so far and I think it is less likely to happen," Rouhani said.

It is believed that the Iraqi nation itself will be able to tackle the issue of terrorism, Rouhani added.
