Bengal to get first IT university


Kolkata, June 24 (IANS): West Bengal's first university dedicated to information technology will come up in the planned city of Kalyani at a cost of Rs.128 crore, state Finance Minister Amit Mitra Tuesday told the assembly.

"West Bengal's first IT University will come up on a 50-acre plot in Kalyani," he said.

Initially B.Tech. courses will be introduced, while M.Tech. and Ph.D. admissions will start later.
