Himachal governor calls on Modi


New Delhi, June 28 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid reported moves by the BJP-led union government to seek resignation of governors appointed by the previous Congress-led regime.

Official sources told IANS it was a courtesy call.

Urmila Singh, a senior Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh and former chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, is understood to have been told to quit.

She completes her five-year term in January.
