Shankar Aggarwal takes over as new urban development secretary


New Delhi, July 14 (IANS): IAS officer Shankar Aggarwal Monday took charge as the secretary of the ministry of urban development after his predecessor Sudhir Krishna retired.

"A 1980 batch Indian Administrate Service (IAS) officer, Aggarwal was serving as secretary in the women and child development ministry," said a statement.

Besides, he has held several important positions in the central and Uttar Pradesh governments.

Sudhir Krishna retired last month.
