Gujarat to get NSG regional hub

New Delhi, July 15 (IANS): The government has accorded in-principle approval for the setting up of an NSG regional hub in Gujarat, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiran Rijiju Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha.

In a written reply, Rijiju said the regional hub will be set up at a location found suitable by the National Security Guard (NSG).

"The Gujarat government has offered land at two places for the purpose. The NSG team has already visited both the sites and submitted its report. The suitability of the land offered by the state government is being assessed," said Rijiju.

Rijiju said the union government conveyed in-principle approval for setting up of the NSG hub on a request from the Gujarat government, which is providing free of cost land for the establishment.

He also said that the government has established four NSG regional hubs at Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Kolkata in West Bengal and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
