Philippine police probing cause of Indian's death

Manila, July 15 (IANS): Police in the Philippines are investigating the death of an Indian national who was found shot dead Sunday in Zamboanga city, media reports said.

Ranjeet Singh was found dead around 10.35 p.m. Sunday in a secluded place in the village of Lunzuran, east of the city in the Mindanao island, the Sun Star reported Monday.

Police said Singh bore a bullet wound in the back of his head when he was found dead.

A snub nose caliber .38 revolver with an empty shell inside and a motorcycle was found near the victim's body, police added.

Zamboanga city police officer-in-charge Angelito Casimiro said they were pursuing two possible motives -- suicide and business rivalry -- that possibly led to the death of Singh.
