Ghaziabad police arrests four fake CBI officers

Ghaziabad, July 15 (IANS): The Ghaziabad police Tuesday arrested four youths for impersonating as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers and cheating people.

Police officer Rashid Ali said the public had told him that CBI officers were advising residents in the area to be alert of crooks and telling people, especially senior citizens, not to go for a walk in abandoned areas.

At the same time, he received complaints that some people were cheated by those who claimed to be CBI officers.

Following the complaints, the police deployed decoys and succeeded nabbing the fake CBI officers.

The arrested, in the age group of 20-28 years, identified themselves as Faiyaz Ali, Mohsin, Mohd. Ali and Imran. Two of them are fluent in English.

The official said: "The police have recovered some jewellery and cash from their possession that they had duped people of."
