Listen! Bosses don't like smartphone use during meetings

New York, Sep 25 (IANS): Do not irk your seniors with smartphone use during meetings as bosses find smartphone use inappropriate while discussing future goals or tasks at hand.

According to a new study, while Millennials are three times more likely than those over age 40 to think that smartphone use during meetings is okay, senior colleagues do not approve of the habit.

In a survey of 554 full-time working professionals, researchers from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business found that 86 percent people think it is inappropriate to answer phone calls during meetings.

While 84 percent replied it is not good to write texts or emails during meetings, 66 percent thought its is inappropriate to write texts or emails even during lunches, said a report on Quartez website.

"When you take out your phone it shows lack of respect, attention, listening, self-awareness and social awareness," researchers wrote.
