Liquor, cash seized from Maharashtra, Haryana


New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS): A total of Rs. 212 million in cash and liquor worth nearly Rs. 130 million have been seized in Maharashtra and Haryana where assembly elections were held Wednesday, the poll panel said.

In Maharashtra, Rs.179.2 million cash and liquor worth Rs. 101.9 million was seized, while in Haryana, the corresponding figures were Rs.31 million cash and liquor worth Rs. 26.9 million," said Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha.

While in Maharashtra, 73 cases of paid news have been registered, in Haryana the figure was 67, he said.
