Udupi, Mar 20: The Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association (UDWJA) organized a programme to release stickers for media vehicles on Thursday March 19 at the press club.

Superintendent of police (SP) Annamalai released the media sticker for vehicles.

He appreciated the sticker system and said it is an easy method to filter media people. “This system helps get recognition from the traffic police during emergencies especially during visits of minister to the city,” he said.

He urged media journalists to be accurate, authentic, and objective, because people trust newspapers. “A reporter will bear all responsibility regarding news updating,” he said seeking media support.

Answering a question on traffic signals, he said, “There are two signals functioning and blinkers have been applied along four sides in Udupi city. The slow road work of City Municipality Council Udupi is disappointing and Kalsanka road is a congested place, so they are delaying in traffic signal installation.”

Regarding naxalism, he said that there are 600 ANF officers working on combing operations and communal issues are under control in Gangolli.

Speaking on the occasion, he added that the usage of dye marker grenades has found more acceptance at Mangaluru and there is a need to create awareness among the people in the city.

Ganesh Pandelu,secretary of the association, welcomed the gathering, Rakesh Kunjur compered the programme.

Udupi District Information Department officer K Rohini, Jayakar Suvarna, President of UDWJA, Chethan Padubidre, convener, Press Club, and other members were present.
