Karkala, Apr 9: It was only a couple of days ago that these columns had published the story of an unidentified dead body which was found on Perpalegudda recently.  Quoting sources it was also reported that it could well have been a murder.  But owing to several factors and decomposed state of the body, it was not possible to establish the identity of the body.  Hence the police had buried the body after a day.

But police did continue to investigate the case.  Now they have achieved a major success in this regard with the arrest of four persons including a woman.  The arrested have spilled the beans and confessed that they had murdered the man.

The deceased has been identified as Mahadev alias Madhu (43), a resident of Joduraste here.  He was a coolie worker.  The arrested have been identified as Chandrappa (35), hailing from Shikaripura but currently residing at Kukkundoor, Manjunath (27), a native of Dharwad and a resident of Jodukatte, Mangamma (40) of Tamil Nadu and Kumar (26) of Kariakkallu.

The primary investigation has revealed that Mahadev had suspicious relationship with accused Chandrappa's wife Nagi Bayi.  Enraged by this the latter planned to murder Mahadev.  He was assisted by Mangamma and Manjunath.  Reports said that Mangamma, a quarry worker did share illegal relationship with Chandrappa.
