Kundapur, Apr 11: Presiding over the function organized for the launching of 'Karavali Dhwani', a new Kannada fortnightly published from here, Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Uppunda  Chandrashekhar Holla expressed concern over the high-handed attitude found in some sections of professional journalism.

The need of the hour, he said, was scientific investigation and an analytical approach with a touch of professionalism. Journalists were expected to be honest and  responsible, he further said.

U S Shenoy of Kannada weekly 'Kundaprabha', as one of the chief guest,s said that the press reporters nowadays were the persons whom the enlightened public would identify and respect. As such they would find their task too onerous to please every section of the society. It was an inevitable and unavodable job. But imitative journalism was not good in taste.

Kishore Kumar of JDS, Kundapur, wishing the new fortnightly well, expressed the hope that the news emanating from the new organ would spread from the Kundapur municipal Jurisdiction to different districts of the state in the days to come.

Leading legal practitioner Kiran Murdeshwar, the other chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the venture of promoter. Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (Ambedkar faction) Nagaraj welcomed the guests.

Members of the media community were present in large numbers and wished that soon 'Karavali Dhwani' would turn into a popular daily of the district.

District Working Journalists' Union president Dr Sudhakar Nambiar presided over the function and expressed his thoughts.

'Karavali Dhwani' editor Babu Hakladi introduced the chief guests and welcomed them to the dais. Chandra Hemmadi compered the programme and Ravikumar Narkali gave a vote of thanks.
