Mangalore: Nursing School Seat Racket Busted - Two Arrested

Mangalore, Aug 6: Over 80 nursing course aspirants were intended to be cheated by a group of five people under the banner of ‘Nightingale School of Nursing’ here, but two of the group were apprehended on Sunday, August 5.
According to the police the group had arranged a walk-in interview for the aspirants at a reputable hotel in the city at 10 am on Sunday. Over 80 candidates had come from different districts. When they had gathered at the avenue for the interview it was announced that the interview was canceled then the aspirants came to know that they have been deceived so they logged a compliant.
Pandeshwar police have detained two persons and the others are absconding, detained have been identified as Tulsidas from Bejai Kapikad and another Tejwasi from Chikamagalur but Lancy Sequeira, Deepthi and Annimol are still missing.
The accused had collected the prospectus charge under the banner of ‘Nightingale School of Nursing and demanded Rs 85,000 from each candidate. The applicants had been asked to pay up Rs 5.000 on the day of interview as the first instalment, said the police.
Their demand for such high amounts made the candidates grow suspicious of the whole affair and they alerted the police.
