Bangalore, Aug 20: A programme titled ‘Bhaava Poornima’ a unique initiative undertaken by Zee Kannada Channel to pay tribute to renowned artiste Mysore Ananthaswamy was organized here on Sunday, August 19 at Bangalore’s Good Shepherd auditorium

This tribute to legends was conducted keeping in mind the fact that Karnataka has a rich tradition of folk songs and ‘Sugama Sangeeth’ (light music). This tradition was started and carried on by legendary singers such as P Kalinga Rao, Balappa Hukkeri, Khareem Khan, Mysore Ananthaswamy and others, informed their press release.

The musical evening consisted of the rendition of the songs earlier sung and popularized by the late Mysore Ananthaswamy such as "Ede tumbi haadidenu", "Karunaalu baa belake", "Yaava mohana murali kareyito", "Amma naanu devaraane", "Lokada kannige raadheyu kooda" and many more. These were sung by popular singers like Ravi Murooru, Divya Raghavan, Supriya Acharya, Surekha, Srikrupa, Ganesh Desai, Vinay Kumar, Ajay Vaariyar and others for Zee Kannada. 

Giving a brief history on the virtuosio the late Mysore Ananthaswamy, the press release informed that very few people had etched their names in the history of folk and light music. Mysore Ananthaswamy was one such gem who had made light music and folk songs more creative and popular not only in this country but also in others. His voice, his music and his songs will still be as enchanting as it was 20-30 years ago and will remain the same for years to come, the release added.
