Bengaluru, Dec 23: Hearing of the case relating to allegation of rape made by former Ram Katha singer, Premalata Shastri, against head of Ramachandrapur Math, Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji, came up for hearing before the designated court on Tuesday December 22. As the Swamiji failed to be present at the hearing, the hearing was adjourned to January 16.

In the last hearing, advocates representing criminal investigation department had prayed the court to order personal appearance of the Swamiji in the court, alleging that he was not properly cooperating with medical tests and investigation. Upholding this request, the court had ordered for personal appearance of the Swamiji on December 22. Advocate for the Swamiji, Shambhu Sharma, appeared in the court and filed an application seeking time for Swamiji's personal appearance.

The advocate said that the Swamiji was tired as he had to take part in Vaikuta Ekadashi puja programme on Monday. He also claimed that his client was unwell.

Judge of the court, Vijayakumari, who scrutinized the application of the Swamiji, adjourned the hearing to January 16, duly asking the advocate to ensure that the Swamiji appears in the court without fail on that day.
