Mangalore: Fishermen Offer ‘Samudra Puja’ at Tannirbavi

Mangalore, Aug 28: ‘Samudra Puja', a puja offered to the Lord of the sea was performed by local fishermen under the leadership of  Mangaluru Elupatna Mogavira Samyukta Sabha at Tannirbavi on Tuesday August 28 morning.

Earlier fishermen from Jeppu, Bolar, Hoigebazar, Kudroli, Bokkapatna, Boloor, Padu Hoigebazar and Nireshwalya joined together at their respective village centers along with milk and coconuts which was brought from every house. Later it was placed at Brahma Bobbarya temple, Bokkapatna, after offering puja.

A shobhayatra (rally) was taken to Tannirbavi beach from the temple, under the leadership of Raja Sandhanathji. Locally collected milk, coconut and other articles were offered to Lord of the Sea’ there. 

Later a stage programme was held. Satyapal Gurkar, Devappa Putran Jeppu, Narayan Gurkar and others were the chief guests present at the occasion. Devdas Gurkar Jeppu, president of Samyukta Sabha, presided over the function. Raja Sandhyanath Swamiji graced the occasion.

Nagesh Bolar welcomed the gathering. Amitra Suvarna Kudroli delivered introductory remarks.
