Puttur, Feb 11: Two persons, who were arrested by Lokayukta officials during the raids after receiving complaints of bribery against them, were produced in the court here on Wednesday February 10. Both were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
On Tuesday night, village assistant of Moorugoly village, Timmappa, was arrested red-handed when accepting bribe for sanctioning land under a provision made by the government under rule 94c. Thereafter, late night on the same day, the Lokayukta cops also succeeded in taking into custody Sheshadri, village accountant of the above village, who happens to be the main accused.
It is gathered that after coming to know that Lokayukta police were after him, Sheshadri had gone into hiding. The Lokayukta police however, drew up a plan, formed a team, and arrested him around midnight on Tuesday.
Relating to the incident, Lokayukta police conducted checks and verification in the residence of Timmappa till around 3 am on Wednesday, it is gathered.
