Mumbai, Oct 5: Roland T Salins Udupi, vice-president of Anti-Crime and Corruption committee and Rons Bantwal, convener of Federation of Maharastra’s Canara Catholic Association, welcomed the decision of K Vayalar Ravi, union minister of external affairs, for his intervention in Sumati Kotian case.  As reported earlier Sumati Kotian who had been a housemaid had suffered inhuman treatment from her employers Deepak Lewis from Kallianpur and his wife Sarita Lewis from Shirva, in Abu Dhabi, during her stay from May 2006. 

Eversince Sumati Kotian's case surface, innumerable similar cases have come to light.  Most of them involved in these cases have been mutually settle since they were worried if their true characters are exposed in the domiciled country.  The pursuing of mere one case of Sumati Kotian has brought relief to hundreds of victims of inhuman treatment.  Her case has been probed by CoD officer, in co ordination with Interpol.

Roland Salins had met union minister Oscar Fernandes on February 10, 2007 in relation with the   case of Sumati and personally presented the hard copy of her case to union NRI minister K Vayalar Ravi.  These steps have brought relief to countless number of housemaids who are treated in inhuman manner.

Meanwhile Rons Bantwal has urged that along with Deepak and Sarita, the latter's mother Celestine Lobo should immediately be arrested.  Any failure in this regard would result in intensified protest, he warned.
