Mangalore: ‘World Bone and Joint Week’ Inaugurated at Fr Muller Hospital

Mangalore, Oct 12: ‘World Bone and Joint Week’ organized by the department of Orthopedic Surgery of Fr Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH), was inaugurated on Friday October 12.

Anantha Krishna, chairman of Karnataka Bank Limited, inaugurated the programme. 

Speaking on this occasion, he said that, health care has remained a dream for poor and rural people. Hence, the doctors should give preference for these people, he urged.

The worst roads in and around the city have given lot of work for the orthopedic surgeons. No one knows, when these roads will be repaired, he expressed his concern.

Speaking about Fr Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), he opined that the developments taken place in the last few decades is really appreciable. The Fr Muller Hospital is one of the best hospitals in India, he added.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of FMCI, presided over the function. Dr Sanjeev Rai, dean of Fr Muller Medical College (FMMC), was present on the dais.

Fr Denis D’Sa, director of FMMC, welcomed the gathering. Dr Mahabala Rai, head of the department of Orthopedic Surgery, delivered the introductory address.

An exhibition related to the orthopedic surgery to was inaugurated at the hospital premises on the same occasion, as part of ‘World Bone and Joint Week.’

    Dear Dr Mahabla Rai/Rev Fr Dennis D'sa Hats of to you father you have such a wonderfull angelic Dr mahabala Rai who has great healing touch and who knows the pain of a accident victim and does a wonderful job at the right time by taking a quick on the spot decision,I only remember that he is son of tympanna shetty renowned bone specialist,I had the golden oppertunity of getting my right shoulder fixed by him at Wenlock hospital in 1981 when I was riding a scooter I skidded and fell off from the scooter on the road, I was immediately taken to wenlock hospital in the outpatient dept,their I got a chance to get treated by him. The students of your college are lucky to have him as head of the dept of orthopaedics he is a god given gift to your instituion. May God bless you and Dr Rai with many more successes in your endeaver.
