DUBAI, Oct 15: There will be no increase in electricity and water supply charges in the near future, according to a senior official of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa).
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO and Managing Director of Dewa, and President of the organising committee of the exhibition of technology of water, energy and environment (Wetex), denied any plan of increasing the prices of Dewa’s services.
While pointing out that Wetex had donated Dh500,000 to Dubai Cares, Al Tayer said, “The holy month of Ramadan witnessed a drop in the consumption of electricity by an average of 300MW. This was due to the decrease in temperatures.”
He pointed out that the increasingly growing demand of power and the high rate of individual consumption of electricity in Dubai had led the authority to take many steps aimed at conserving the natural resources and power.
Al Tayer stressed that the conservation process was being carried out at all levels, including planning, tenders, designs and operations. “The loss percentage in the electrical system of Dewa is one of the lowest in the world,” he claimed.
