Hassan, May 3: Two young lovers attempted suicide here on Monday May 2, but survived as they were rushed to the hospital immediately after they were spotted suffering.
Hizbullah (23) and Sushma (19), both from Ashok Nagar in Shivamogga city, are the lovers who survived.
As per the details of the case, Hizbullah a painter by profession and Sushma were in love. Their parents objected to their marriage as they belonged to different communities. Hizbullah had a rented room at Pension Mohalla in Hassan as he worked there. He brought Sushma to Hassan from Shivamogga. Both of them decided to end their lives and consumed poison in the room.
A neighbour found the couple writhing in pain and rushed them to the nearby government hospital. Hizbullah and Sushma are said to be out of danger now after receiving treatment.
Pension Mohalla police have registered a case.
