Cabinet clears ordinance to keep state boards out of NEET ambit this year

New Delhi, May 20 (PTI): Government today approved promulgation of an ordinance to keep state boards out of the ambit of uniform medical entrance examination, NEET, for one academic year.

The executive order is aimed at "partially" overturning a Supreme Court verdict which said all government colleges, deemed universities and private medical colleges would be covered under NEET.

The next phase of the exam is scheduled for July 24. Nearly 6.5 lakh students have already sat for the first phase of NEET held on May 1.

Once the ordinance is issued, students of state government boards will not have to sit for NEET on July 24. They, however, will have to become part of the uniform entrance exam from next academic session, government sources clarified.

The exam will be applicable for those applying for Central government and private medical colleges.

The states flagged various issues in the health ministers conference recently, including problems related to language and syllabus for students. They said the students affiliated to state boards will find it tough to appear for the uniform test as early as July.

Health Minister J P Nadda is likely to meet President Pranab Mukherjee to explain him about the need for the ordinance.

Feku govt deliberately spreading misinformation and half truths to protect 20,000 crore black money industry carried out by more than 80 MPs and almost all MLAs from every party except
    AAP.
    Here r a few facts:
NEET is only a RANKING exam for aspiring medical students.States can still have their quotas. Each state can create a separate merit list based on the NEET rankings.
Almost all entrance tests like AIPMT,CET are conducted in English. So question of vernacular students suffering is a lie.And all pvt medical colleges conduct their entrance exams in English.
NEET Will only replace multiple exams like CET and AIPMT.
Syllabus of NEET is 95% same as other boards and all students will get the same time to prepare for it.Pvt medical colleges having more than 25,000 medical seats conduct their own entrance exams not based on any defined syllabus !! They make 20,000 crores via corruption every year. This year 12 states have decided to admit students via AIPMT (CBSE based) ..which is same as NEET.
All premier exams like IAS etc are conducted in English only. The only year NEET was held for vernacular medium, not a single candidate qualified !! All medical education in INdia is only in English.
Well done Feku for fooling whole country with your black money promises.Never again will we be fooled by you !!
