Bengaluru, May 20: Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industry Minister R V Deshpande expressed his ‘disappointment’ over Apple CEO Tim Cook not visiting Bengaluru, the knowledge capital of India.
"It is sad that Bengaluru, which hosts around one million IT professionals, was given a miss by the CEO of the world's largest technology company," Deshpande said.
He, however, said "Thank you very much for visiting India. However, we in Karnataka state are disappointed as this time you could not make it to Bengaluru, the Silicon City of India."
"I am sure in your next visit you will first land in Bengaluru and then go to other parts of our country,” Deshpande, who is also the Tourism minister, said in his letter to Cook, copies of which were released to the media.
Welcoming Apple’s plan to set up an 'App Design and Development Accelerator', Deshpande said, "Indian IT professionals will get a boost as part of a global programme. I am looking forward to your group to make more and more investments in India, more so in Karnataka."
