Benagluru, May 21 (DHNS): A pack of about 12 dogs mauled a 6-year-old girl who was playing near her house at Bilikallu on Ullalu Main Road near Kengeri on Thursday afternoon.
The strays chomped off a part of her right ear and wounded her badly in the thighs. With multiple injuries, the girl has been admitted to the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) near K R Road where her condition is said to be critical.
Her father Ramegowda, a driver by profession, said the dogs preyed on two lambs and a calf and ate them in no time before attacking the girl. Scared by the sight, Ramya ran towards her home when the dogs chased her and bit her all over her body.
Ramegowda said, “Four lambs and a calf were tethered nearby. The dogs attacked them and ate two lambs and the calf before attacking my daughter. Somehow, we saved the two lambs and my daughter.”
Ramya, a UKG student, has been put on intravenous fluid. The doctors have given her anti-rabies vaccines and anti-rabies serum.
Ramegowda said he had taken her to two other hospitals and the doctors there expressed their inability to treat her in absence of anti-rabies vaccines.Later, he took her to KIMS, he added.
His relatives said the stray dog menace had grown monstrously in the area. They said at least 70 stray dogs in the locality had made their lives miserable. They blamed the BBMP for doing nothing to check the problem haunting the locality for quite a long time.
