Mangaluru, May 26: As the Narendra Modi led government completes two years at the center, Congress made scathing attack on NDA government and termed Modi's governance as misgovernance and said that the Congress is disappointed to see that promises made to the people remained unrealised.
Addressing the press meet at district Congress office in city on Thursday, May 26, Shobha Ojha the president of All India Mahila Congress said “The promises given by Narendra Modi before the elections have not been kept. Good days (ache din) promised by Modi are yet to come. In fact the people of the country are totally disillusioned and ache din seems to be a far-fetched idea,"
"Two years of gross misgovernance and a grinding halt to the economy have put the farmers, youth and students into an unprecedented employment crisis. Employment, agriculture, food, inflammation, exports, GDP and all indices have affected the common man of this country. Modi government helped suited booted friends to grow at the cost of the common people. They helped the black money owners to prosper. They let wilful bank defaulter like Vijaya Mallya and Lalith Modi flee the country,” Ojha added.
"The Modi government had assured the providing 2 crore jobs per year prior to the elections. It should have been 4 crore jobs in two years. But unfortunately only 1.34 lac jobs were created. The nation is facing huge unemployment with 10-12 lac young people joining the labour force each month. Agriculture growth rate in India is declining. The two years of Modi government have witnessed lowest rate of agriculture growth from 4.25% in 2013-14 to 1% in 2015-16. It had slipped to 0.2% in 2014-15 and now stands at a dismal rate. it is averaging at 0.8%. Minimum support price promised was 50% but only 0.4% was delivered to the farmers,", Ojha continued.
"Modi government is spending Rs 20lac per day to publicise PMO and his government. Country is also facing severe drought presently. Nearly 40% of India's population is plagued with a grave agrarian and drinking water crisis. Even the MNERGA is snatched from the farmers and the labours are in distress due to the Narendra Modi led government. 2996 farmers have committed suicide in the years 2015 out of which 1841 are from Maharashtra. There were increased agricultural exports during the UPA government, but this has declined during NDA administration" She said.
"Economic growth has been halted due to mismanagement. The economy growth is shown higher from 7.3% in 2014-15 to 7.6% in 2015-16 with new method of GDP calculation. Even the governor of the RBI and the government's chief economic adviser expressed discomfort with the official growth of data. The government is fond of boasting about FDI inflows. Net FDI inflows dropped to a 12month low of US$3.1 billion during the first 11 months of the fiscal.”Ojha added.
Ojha also alleged that BJ P has blamed the Congress for the GST bill not being passed. “The Congress is the architect of the bill. And it is well known that RSS is pressurising the BJP not to accept three consumer and business friendly recommendations made by the congress. Though Narendra Modi assured that he will get Rs 80lac crore black money and deposit Rs 15 lacs into every Indian's account within 100 days, the promise has not been kept. The internal security is in perilous situation. BJP and RSS are trying to impose their ideologies into students. Modi government is hell bent on using an iron fisted approach to suppress contrarian points of view branding any criticism as 'anti-national'. Modi government also levelled the charges of sedition on students of JNU. Government is involved in budgetary cuts in education. The overall education budget is down from Rs 82,771crore to Rs 69,074 crore in the year 2015-16.” Ojha opined.
Ojha also said that Modi had assured that government would show zero tolerance for the rapes and sexual harassment but unfortunately the rapes are on the rise.
State Mahila Congress President Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Ibrahim Kodijal, Mithun Rai, Mamatha Gatti, Divya Prabha and Sharlet Pinto were present in the press meet.
