Mangaluru, May 31: A youth, who was allegedly beaten up by more than fourteen persons, has been admitted to a hospital in city.
Irshad from Kannur is the person injured.
As per the details available, Irshad was pulled out from a bus by a gang of fourteen persons and was beaten up with rods and sticks on May 28 at Kannur. Irshad is a coolie worker. It is alleged that the sand mafia has some grudge against him for his objection on sand mining.
A case stands registered at Mangaluru rural police station.
Muneer Katipalla from Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), speaking to Daijiworld said “It is very sad to see the young man still in the hospital as he was beaten up badly. The culprits have been booked under section 104 which is bailable offence while they were supposed to be booked for attempt to murder. DYFI condemns the law enforcement agency conniving with sand mafia. We have already submitted a petition to police commissioner Chandra Shekar who is known as honest and sincere. If the justice is not done in the case, we will go for a intense protest."
