Chikkaballapur, Jul 3: “The state government is committed to the implementation of Yettinahole project which will supply drinking water to Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts. The experts have opined that 24 TMC of water can be made available to these districts,” said chief minister Siddaramaiah here on Saturday, Jul 2.

He was speaking after the inauguration of various government projects held at government junior college.

“Do not believe those people who are creating confusion in the minds of people for the sake of political gains. There are no rivers in Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts. Water level has gone down to 1,500 from 1,200 feet here. We want to provide drinking water to these places. The Yettinahole project cost is Rs 13,000 crore and Rs 2,000 crore has been already spent. That shows our commitment and seriousness,” he added.

“The project is not small. The work is going on fast. We have created a separate corporation for the project as per the demand of people and activists from this region. We will appoint a president for this corporation within a week. We have appointed expert and coordination committees for identifying alternative water sources. Nobody should get involved in politics in the name of water.” Siddaramaiah said.
