Mangalore, Nov 23: The city unit of Samajwadi Party will be staging ‘Road block’on Saturday, December 1, to urge the district administration to provide adequate supply of LPG cylinders, S P Chengappa, district executive president, Samajvadi Party announced here at the press conference on Thursday November 22.
The road will be blocked with empty cylinders at the Hampanakatta, since the ‘road roko’ will be staged for the genuine cause of the general public, he added.
The ‘Road Block’ will be against beauraucratic and political lethargy which has given rise to public grievance such as pathetic condition of arterial highways in the city, inadequate and infrequent supply of LPG cylinders, delaying tactics to handover the power to people representatives, resumption of Bangalore - Mangalore passenger train, he added.
The root cause for the major grievances in Karnataka is the failure of the ruling parties. It has been apparent in the state that all coalition partners have been involved in divergent opinions regarding power transfer and they have least bothered about the welfare of the state. Hence the Samajwadi party urges the governor to dissolve the assembly, he said.
Deputy Commissioner of DK, recently issued an order that one should furnish ration card, in order to get gas connection or to refill the LPG cylinders. According to the officials, this step has been taken to prevent the sale of cylinders in black market. But the irony is that the step has been in favor of the persons, who sell them in the black market. Hence the district administration should take a second look in this regard, he suggested.
The overall development of all city corporations in the state has been adversely affected as the absolute power has not been transferred to the people representatives. It is the demand of the party that the Governor should see that power is transferred to the representatives, so as to smoothen and ensure the routine working of the city corporations, he said.
It has been the long standing demand to construct the fly-overs at the strategic places in the city. It’s high time that the fly-overs are built at the earliest near Padil, he demanded.
M Mohan, president, Rohit Joshi, district committee member, Rama Suvarna, district committee member and others were present at the press conference.
