Bengaluru, Aug 6: In relation to single number lottery scam that had jolted the state sometime back, a team of Central Bureau of Investigation CBI) officers grilled some IPS officers. They also obtained statements from director general of police, Omprakash, and advisor to home minister, Kempaiah.
During verification of call details of Parirajan, said to be the main operative of the single number lottery racket, the CBI officers had found mobile nlumbers of both Kempaiah and Omprakash. It is gathered that both of them claimed that they have nothing to do whatever with Parirajan.
As per information, over ten police officers were questioned by CBI. Statements of Omprakash and Kempaiah were obtained as Parirajan was found to have made calls to their numbers, it is being claimed.
When the scandal broke out initially, names of senior police officer, Alok Kumar, and superintendent in the department of excise and lottery prohibition, Dharanesh, had come to the fore. The government had initially handed over investigation to criminal investigation department, but at the insistence of the opposition, it was handed over to CBI.
Omprakash and Kempaiah
Some top police officers will be visiting CBI headquarters to record statement in response to notices received within a week, it is said.
In the scandal, name of an entrepreneur said to be close to Tamil Nadu chief minister, is also emerging as the person who was running the racket through Parirajan.
