Udupi, Aug 9: At last, the police have found that Bhaskar Shetty, well-known hotelier from the city who also has business interests at Saudi Arabia, who went missing since July 28, was murdered by his own son and wife.
The most glaring traits displayed by the accused Rajeshwari and Navaneeth, was what could be construed as a total absence of guilty conscience on their faces. When the accused were led by the police to Bhaskar Shetty's home at Indrali here and also to near the Homa Kunda at the house of astrologer, Niranjan Bhat from Nandalike, where Shetty's body was supposedly consigned to flames, their faces did not show any emotion, least of all, guilty conscience. Not an iota of hesitation, regret, pain or guilt was visible either in their faces or in their body language. The movements of Navaneeth in particular, who happens to be a body builder, were stylish, assertive, and showy.
Rajeshwari had come dressed in a black top and jeans. She wore a nose-let and chain around her neck. She was devoid of Mangalya chain around her neck, bangles in her hands and vermillion on her forehead usually found among women. Navaneeth was in blue full shirt and jeans trousers. Both were upright in their postures and walked with heads held high.
Even when the police led them to the court on Monday morning, both of them did not display any hesitation, fear, or worry. Their faces did not reflect the apologetic signs one would have expected on the faces of wife and son who bludgeoned to death the caretaker and breadwinner of their own family to death. This created doubts in the minds of onlookers whether they had feelings of affection, love, humanitarian feelings or closeness to blood relations inside. Rajeshwari was seen in black top and leggings of animal print. Navaneeth was wearing black simple trousers and white full arm T-shirt. Both wore simple slippers.
