Great initiative by Biruver Kudla to organise the 'Pili Vesha' in namma Mangaluru. Brings back memories of my school days when we were flocking to a small room in Mallikatte junction where the tigers were painted for the marnami occasion. Then the entire gang would go along with the tiger dancers to the Kadri temple and around which was a great joy and thrill for youngsters then. I wonder how many youngsters have such an inclination these days to enjoy our cultural past. I feel these tiger dancers should wear some kind of canvas shoes painted in yellow stripes or something instead of dancing bare foot. It is very hurting for the feet to dance for so many hours in the heat and on rough grounds, roads, etc. without any protection for the feet. Wish someone takes this up for the sake of our tiger dancers. Likewise, it is always a delight to see different acts (siddi vesha, chakubuku chutney, karadi dance, etc. etc.)during the marnami season. Enjoy is the only word that comes to mind when everyone joins together and partakes in the joyous celebration. The entire city becomes one. Once again, congrats to Biruver Kudla of Ballal Bagh.
