Intolerance a curse we are seeing of late: Ratan Tata

Gwalior, Oct 23 (PTI): Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata, has expressed concern over the alleged growing intolerance in the country, dubbing it "a curse we are seeing of late".

"I think everybody knows where the intolerance is coming from, what it is. Like many thousands, millions of Indians, one wants to see a country without intolerance," Tata told reporters late last night.

Minutes before, he had spoken against the alleged growing intolerance in his address at the 119th foundation day function of Scindia School here, endorsing Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia's views on the issue.

"The Maharaja (Jyotiraditya) talked about intolerance. It is a curse we are seeing of late," the eminent industrialist said in his address.

"We want to live in an environment where we love our fellow men. We don't shoot them, we don't kill them. We don't hold them hostages but give a bit of ourselves and we give and take," Tata added.

Before Tata, Scindia in his address to the students said, "We want you to be winners. We also want you to be thinkers... And the hallmark of a civilised society is debate, discussion and disagreement."

An "environment of intolerance" was prevailing in the country today, the former Union Minister added.

"An environment in which each one of us is told what to speak, what to hear, how to dress, what to eat," Scindia said.

A crackdown on dissent was against the progress of society, the Congress leader said, while hitting out at cow vigilantes.

Sri. Ratan Shaw who is a world citizen-friend of Warren Buffet, Bill Gates etc-a great humanitarian speaking less and when spoken hitting the subject who is now speaking an open truth about the BJP Government of India which has created a national impediment and international concern.

When I wrote about the same topic in the Economic Times, I got some very rash compliments like " idiot".

Every member of the U.S. Foreign Relation committee is fully aware of the highly increased minority and Dalit persecution in India and the U.S. Congress is well aware of that too.

In underground, the BJP Government blocked the funding of hundreds of NGOs which were engaged in uplifting the unwanted and broken- hearted masses of India, their curse and tears will be falling upon the Government. Now, the Government has uplifted the barricades of the funding through international pressure and U.N. slapping on the face of Modi while he tried to shine as a world leader and authority of terrorism.

    Very correct.
Responsible eminent personalities are always bold and concerned. They speak up their mind.
Can we expect such statements from Reliance and Adanis?
Afghanistan, Syria are devastated by intolerance.
Sadly many Indians get carried away, not able to learn or see from their devastation caused by their intolerant fanatics!

Let 'Times Now' Arnab Goswamy debate Mr. Tata's observation in his prime time telecast.

I used to be Arnab's fan, but lately he was found shedding his secular ideologies and anchoring debate more like a BJP spokes person, siding the party.

Hope we can see a debate soon on intolerance, as observed by Mr. Tata.
