Sullia, Jan 7: Putting down the Governor and his aides' 'Janata Darshans' and lambasting the same as a 'propaganda vehicle' for Congress party, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa here on Sunday January 6 made a clarion call to intensify his agitation against such populist measures.
Speaking to media persons near Puttur, he opined that it is not proper to conduct Janata Darshans in Bangalore for one's own personal glory. Instead, he advised that the governor's aides should conduct a district-wide tour and gather the grievances of locals.
According to him it is not correct to force people to go to Bangalore with their problems. Instead, he offering a solution said that the through the existing system of tahsildars at the taluk-level and deputy commissioners at the district-level the collection of grievances should be strengthened.
In this context, Yeddyurappa queried "If 'Janata Darshans' continue to be held in Bangalore, who will attend to the major problems in some key departments." He lamented that the governor's governance had in fact turned into the Congress party's governance in the state.
He pointed out that Congress leaders like Mallikarjuna Kharge, Veerappa Moily were regularly seen going to the governor's residence and remarked that they had even questioned his demand on releasing a white paper on the pre-planning process for the annual budget.
With regard to the situation in Gujarat and Modi's leadership, he blasted former union minister Janardhan Poojary and leaders like Kharge, Moily for their unnecessary criticism of Narendra Modi and the BJP. According to him their statements were insulting the majority and hence exhorted the Hindus not to take such statements lightly.
With regard to Mallikarjuna Kharge's charges pertaining to voters list, he answered that the Congress which had remained a mute spectator during local elections was now making unnecessary charges after witnessing the crowd turn-out in the Janajagruti rallies.
Enumerating the BJP's election strategy, he said the BJP would face elections on the development plank. He said they would also go to the people explaining how the Congress party played a crucial role in the government's fall, while JD(S) surpemo Deve Gowda was pulling a fast one.
Also present at the meet were former MLA K Rama Bhat and BJP state president D V Sadananda Gowda.
