B'lore: KRV Activists Attempt to Blacken Oscar Fernandes' Face

Newindpress

Bangalore, Jan 9: Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes narrowly escaped the wrath of Kannada Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists protesting against ‘discrimination and injustice’ in recruitment of Kannadigas in railway recruitments.

When Oscar came to attend a function at the Town Hall here on Tuesday, a group of around 50 to 100 KRV activists led by its president Narayana Gowda barged towards him and attempted to blacken his face.

They held him there for about 30 minutes before the police intervened and cordoned off the minister. The activists shouted slogans against the minister and politicians for not raising the issue with the Centre.

Earlier in the day, over 100 KRV activists were taken into police custody after they attempted to squat on the tracks. Another group protested in front of the exam centre, delaying the exams for a while.

KRV activists are protesting against the injustice in recruitment of Kannadigas in Railways. The protest began last week, after the activists barged in to the exam centre to learn that Biharis outnumbered local candidates for group D job.

The JD(S) has extended support to the KRV agitation. In a statement, JD(S) spokesperson Y S V Datta said the party would protest against the discrimination.

This incidence reminded me an incident happened some time ago where recruitment of candidates for the Military was taking place and there where hardly any Kannadigas ed because they could not speak neither Hindi nor English.

Therefore, Railways belong to the Nation and NOT of State, where staff can be transferred anywhere in India or sometimes even sent to foreign countries. Therefore, if anyone wants to join Railways, he should atleast speak Hindi, our national language as well as the ion of the candidates should be on merit.

Yes, if the candidate is qualified for the job and speaks atleast national language and still not selected, then I can understand the anger of KRV. But no one can force anyone to as per their wish. Therefore, before we try to teach others what they should do, let us learn ourselves first making the candidates to qualify for the job by giving proper education.

There are some Politicians, they want to make a big noise whenever they do small thing and such people are like, 'bigger the drum, bigger the sound but inside is hollow'. But some, whatevet they do, they do it quietly. I am not trying to justify anybody here.

People who do not support the cause of Kannadigas, has no moral right to stay in Karnataka.

Although I am not a proponent of language promotion, I think the staff at railway stations should be able to talk in the local language. Lets face it...Southern Indian railways are run by the Malayalee mafia. Any changes if needed should be done on the top, in order for that to be visible on the ground. After all, all the boards beyond Talapady have been compulsorily malayalized?

Oscar's contribution to DK and India is like Aryabhatta's contribution to Mathematics a big ZERO. Lets us wish he maintians this unique 'record' like he has done for the past 20 years.
