Dubai, Nov 30: Pangalites in the UAE hosted their 5th Domestic Workers Day-Out on Friday November 25 at Zabeel Park. The day, which was specially organized for Mangalurean and Goan domestic workers employed and residing in the UAE, received an overpowering response with more than 176 domestic workers participating in various activities.
The day’s programme started at 11:30 am with a welcome note by Joel Quadras to all the participants.
He appreciated the service rendered by the domestic workers and wished them a better future. He then took over the entire day’s event and started the activities with a few warm-up stretch games. Later, the crowd was split into four groups based on the unique numbers presented to each one of them while registering their names. The groups were named Evergreen, Fly Orange, Red Rose and Yellow Zone.
In the morning session games like balloon hut, string apple, ball passing through PVC pipe canal and passing the water were conducted. After the lunch break, the session started with a game of housie, followed by naming the Indian city with hints of English words, fashion show (men dressed as women) and ending with tug-of-war.
The fun-filled day for domestic workers witnessed guests like Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Group; Dayan D’Souza, founder, Daiji Dubai and Pangalites well-wishers, Edwin D'Souza and Nelson Rodricks. Pangalites expressed special thanks to their well-wishers for their constant support.
Dayan D’Souza of Daiji Dubai addressed the crowd and appreciated the good deed being done by Pangalites of UAE year after year. He also urged the association to continue this noble deed in the coming years.
Prizes for the winners in individual and group games were distributed by members of Pangalites.
Sumptuous breakfast, lunch, evening tea and soft drinks were served during the day. The event came to an end at 5 pm. More than 176 domestic workers participated and enjoyed the day’s event.
