Boston, Dec 15: The first Christmas gala hosted by MCA - New England in Boston was a stupendous success. The event was hosted on December 10 at Chelmsford, MA. The extreme chill did not deter the enthusiastic Mangalureans from coming in to share the Christmas spirit. The joy was flagrant, the hall was decked, the tree was lit, food was scrumptious and spirits were high.

The familes got to get their Christmas pictures taken as they came in. Top on the agenda was carol singing that added to the Christmas atmosphere. Members of MCA entertained the guests with their dances. Everyone present participated in fun filled games and the quiz master Frederick Fernandes stole the show with his Christmas quiz, which was enjoyed by one and all. Christmas dinner was lip smacking, followed by a game of housie and finally came the time for the special guest from the North Pole. Children swarmed around Santa gleefully to receive their Christmas presents. Sure enough, everyone of the children were on the ‘nice’ list.
After dinner, all the guests were lured to the dance floor by the captivating music played by the one and only DJ Ian D’Souza. Kuswar distribution highlighted the
connections with the associations traditions in India.
MCA organised this excellent programme with active participation ably led by Fredrick Fernandes. The members who worked to make the event successful are: Vishal and Seema Pinto, Santosh and Tina D’Souza, Stephen and Jyothi Noronha, Loy and Priya D’Souza, Renita Mendonca, Irwin and Lynn D’Souza, Victor and Refina Lewis and a big shout out to Santhosh D’Souza who captured all the moments through his excellent photography.
Over 100 people attended the gala. Unfortunately, registration had to be closed early as the venue reached full capacity. It was encouraging for the association to meet many Mangalureans in the Boston area and many more in the years to come.
