Puttur: Hit by tipper truck, pillion rider dies

Puttur, Feb 10: After an accident occurred at Kalara in Kadaba village of the taluk between a tipper truck and motor bike on Thursday February 9 evening, the pillion rider got killed. The victim was Chennappa Gowda (60), resident of Mayilga in Peraba village.

Jagadish (25), son of Chennappa Gowda, who was riding the bike, suffered serious injuries. He was provided initial treatment in a private hospital in the town before shifting him to a private hospital at Mangaluru for advanced care.

It is learnt that the father-son duo had come to Kadaba on some work, and were returning to their home at Perabe, when a tipper truck loaded with mud hit their vehicle.

Chennappa, who was a native of Karaya in Beltangady taluk, had bought land at Mayilga near Perabe seven years back and shifted his residence there. He used to pluck coconuts and areca nuts for a fee. He was also adept at cutting down trees. Chennappa is survived by wife and three sons.

A case about this accident was registered in Kadaba police station.
