Bangalore: Scintillating Display of Silk Sarees at Nagesh Polali's Fashion Show

Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSIC) launched a designer saree worth 1,13,000, designed by international designer Dipika Govind in Mumbai recently. The exihibition was held at three places Karnataka Sangha, Matunga, Tamil Sangha, Sion and Vasantha Rao Sabhagraha, Thane. The fashion show was directed and presented by fashion photographer Nagesh Polali.

Mumbai’s  leading models walked the ramp donning sarees made of original silk and 65% gold and silver zari embroidery work. Model and actor Pinky Kamblee expressed her pleasure at being a part of the show and said that she the Mysore Silk saree she wore made her feel even more beautiful and attractive. She added that such sarees were the privilege of royal families but now things have changed so much that even the middle-class can afford them.

KSIC was established in 1980 under the Companies Act 1956. The silk filature in T Narashipura, and the silk weaving factory, Mysore, are the producaton units manufacturing silk yarn and Mysore Silk fabrics respectively. KSIC is known for its elegant designer collections of crepe de chain sarees, kasuti embroidery sarees and georgettes and plain printed sarees,salvars, tops, ties etc.

Wedding collection sarees under the name of ‘Threads of Gold’ designed by Bangalore-based professional designer Deepika Govind was also introduced.

What makes Mysore Silks diffrent from other silk fabirics available in India is that they are made from the finest quality of natural silks yarn obtained from cocoons reared in the old Mysore areas which gives the sarees an extraordinary lustre.

The traditional method of manufacturing the twist patterns adopted in weaving the fabric gives it a grainy feeling. Mysore Silk is the best crepe silk available in India today. The zari used in Mysore Silk is pure and has a gold content of 0.65% and silver 65%. The designs are a blend of tradition and modernity.

The company obtained ISO 9001-2000 recognition in 2005, Geographical Indication Registration for Mysore Silk in November 2005 and ISO 14001-2004 Environmental Certification in June 2007.
