Mangalorean Ripped Crores off Gullible Job Seekers

BANGALORE, Mar 7: A Rs 1.5-crore recruitment scam has been unearthed and a man, who was literally a ‘moving job fair’, has been arrested. The accused is Vinceraj Solomon of Mangalore.

B Vinay Naidu of Hyderabad lodged a complaint with the Hebbal police, stating Solomon duped him on the pretext of a job offer with an MNC.

The police suspect another person, Sunil, is also involved in the case. However, they later realized Solomon had hoodwinked Sunil and Vinay.

“Vinay and Sunil told us Solomon had promised jobs to 40 candidates at various MNCs. He distributed offer letters after taking Rs 1.8 lakh from each. The complainants had lost Rs 85 lakh to Solomon,’’ a police officer said.

Investigations revealed that Solomon had opened offices at Bommasandra and BTM Layout, and used his communication skills to derail investigators.

“Initially, we believed he was an MBA-holder. However, that turned out to be fake. When he was arrested, Solomon was working with an MNC at Richmond Circle, stating he was awaiting his MBA results. Investigations are on to track down his other networks,’’ the officer added.

A PUC dropout from Mangalore, Solomon came to Bangalore in 2005 and forged offer letters of at least 10 MNCs. He lured unemployed youth for a mass recruitment drive.

He was once arrested for cheating employees in BTM Layout. After securing bail, he got back to his old ways, the police officer added. The police have requested people to come forward and lodge complaints against Solomon if they have also been duped by him.

I had heard similar case recently. One of my sister's colleague, a Teacher, was told by his son that he would get job in Wipro if he pays 1Lac rupees. He is a BE graduate. The teacher asked my sister to verify it with me, if it is true. I told her that it may not be true. Software companies usually recruit on basis of skills not on the basis of money. I haven't heard of any such cases yet.

If it was so easy to get job, all would have paid 1Lac to get a job which would fetch them 3-6L per anum or much more. I suggested, instead he would spend some money for the course and get placed or do free service in a small company to get experience. I am not sure if the teacher paid money to his son to pay bribe to secure job.
