Kuwait: Tulu Koota Comes to Rescue of Seven 'Duped' Jobless Workers

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (KD/NR)

Mangalore, Mar 9: Kuwait Tulu Koota displayed it's humanity and generosity towards seven innocent persons who had earlier been cheated by a foreign recruiting agent here, recently.

It is a heart-rendering tale, wherein the said seven persons had been sent through a agent  to Kuwait with lofty promises of a steady job and income, but once there they were reduced to being jobless, shelterless and even food-less as they had been royally duped by the travel agents.

However, in the form of a savior they were shown sympathy by the Kuwait Tulu Koota who organized for them to be  sent back home. The persons who were duped by the agents were Peter Alwin Fernandes, Urban D’Souza, Phascal Rocky D’Souza, Ashok Gopu Poojary, Valerian Rodrigues, Pradeep Alake and Sandeep.

Sources here inform that the victims had been sent to Kuwait without proper visa and once there they had become desperate without any job since the past one month. However, when the Tulu Koota came to know about it, they helped them with accommodation and food and took care of them for a few days.

Arrangement were made by the Koota to send them to their homeland which cost nearly a Rs 1 lac. Presently Ashok Gopu Poojary is the only one without a valid passport and so is taken care of by the Tulu Koota.

Tulu Koota Kuwait is a cultural association of Tulu speaking people living in the State of Kuwait. Tulu Koota Kuwait was formed on 11th August 2000 and was affiliated to Indian Embassy during the year 2001.

It is said culture refers to general processes which produce such goods and give them meaning to the social relationships and practices in which such objects and processes become embedded. Tulu Koota Kuwait have  proved the relevance of social relationships still preserved by people hailing from Tulunadu by their noble gesture of extending the help for duped and displaced fraternal emigrants at alien land.

Well done Tulu Koota, this is the example which most of our associations in Kuwait should follow instead of holding get to gethers and parties and celebrations.

Very well done, Tulu Koota Kuwait, great job. But instead of sending them back, should have given some jobs in Kuwait. Tulu Koota / Bunts Sangha - all over the gulf should look at it, atleast try to help the Tuluva’s job seekers.

Congratulations Tulu Koota for this good deed. At least this has proved that this particular association was formed not just for picnics and cultural programs but also for a social cause. There are many such cases where people are just duped by their own countrymen and sent to gulf which once was a dream world for job seekers.

It would also be great if efforts are made to take necessary action through the proper channels to make such irresponsible agents pay for all the expenses that has been incurred by these duped job seekers as well as the expenses incurred by the association in taking care and repatriating them to their home land our Tulu Naadu. “Yi namma kootada sadasyerena prativonji oodeshak Deverena ashirwada Kenonwe” Jai Kudla, Jai Tulu Koota!!
