Puttur: Three students held for consuming ganja

Puttur,  Apr 1: After they came to know that some students staying in a paying guest accommodation here had consumed drugs in the guise of celebrating birthday, police from the town station here went there and arrested three among them. The arrests were made on Thursday March 30.

The students, studying in a private college here, were staying in paying guest accommodation inside the residence of an individual at Nehru Nagar here, had organized birthday party. The police went there and subjected the students to medical tests. After the tests confirmed that three among them had consumed drugs, first information report was filed against them. The students secured release on bail on Friday.

The names of arrested students have been given as Ranganath (22), resident of Krishnanagar,Hassan, Abhishek Gowda (21) from Kushalnagar, and Narendra Prasad (21), resident of Koliyaru in Manjeshwar.

During the party at the paying guest accommodation on Thursday night, several students had consumed drugs. They were behaving strangely. After getting reliable information, police from the town station went there and took the students into custody. They were then taken to Mangaluru and put through medical tests. The tests proved that three of them had consumed ganja. There were arrested and produced in court on Friday. They were released on bail after they executed bonds.

A fight between two student gangs had happened three days back in Nehru Nagar area. There has been apprehension about the increasing habit of consumption of drugs among the students, which in turn can lead to criminal activities. This concern has become more prominent during the last two years, and last year, some student organizations had led a huge protest against the drug cartel.

    Some grow ..Some smuggle .. some use for medicinal purpose.some meditate.. some use religiously.. some sell and some consume this naturally grown marijuana in Nature but our efficient and non corrupt police only have laws for consuming students.
    This naturally grown herb is legalised in some of the most Powerful and developed countries even India should legalize herb and BAN Alcohol after all studies have proven alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana, even alcohol and cow slaughter is banned in many states. Else start Taxes, then our Sincere Govt will approve Ganja. Police should concentrate on Corrupt govt officialls rather than innocent student s who will be cool and who will Only harm themselves after consuming marijuana . If u raid police stations one will find more than a KG of Ganja hidden in advance to lock down students as they cannot bribe any police officials. Bribe police and you can do anything you want. Those who consume Higher Grade drugs are rarely caught if they have no contacts. SHame on you Police, instead of rehabilitating students, you are destroying their careers and futures thus making them prone to more dangerous drugs.

    Marijuana has been made legal in the USA and Israel and has been proven scientifically to treat many medical conditions.
    Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has, made the possession and consumption of Marijuana Illegal throughout India after pressure was laid on Indian Prime Minister Late. Shri Rajiv Gandhi by the US Govt., Marijuana was never illegal and was a part of Indian Culture through ages.
