Navodaya Chaitanya Samavesha held at Swaraj maidan, here on Friday March 14, was a grand success.  It was attended by over 25,000 members from all over the district.  The folklore procession of distinct Tulu Nadu culture, with the concept incorporated by Dhanakeerti Balipa was the key interest among the folklore performances.
 
Sri Bharatakeerti Swamiji of Jain Math here, addressing the large gathering of farmers, said that all religions in the world exhort the rich to share their wealth with the less fortunate. Sharing of wealth will make the underprivileged to lead a better life. He commended the efforts of Navodaya Vikas Trust, in this direction.  The convention was indeed a display of unity and solidarity among the farmers' fraternity of Dakshina Kannada.

M N Rajendra Kumar, president of South Canara District Credit Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank, said that the very fact that Navodaya Gram Vikas Trust has shared the platform with politicians including independent candidates at the convention', conveys its secular stand. Moreover, he urged the union government to extend loans to agriculturists at 4 per cent interest besides to waiving all the agricultural loans till December 31, 2007.
 
Former ministers Amarnath Shetty, Nagaraj Shetty, former MLAs Gopal Bhandary, Gopal Poojary, Abhayachandra Jain, Kamal Tauri, IAS officer, Udupi Congress district president M A Gafoor, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Raman Reddy, Hemanath Gopal, Krishna Hegde Kolkebail, Navodaya Dharwad convener, Mallikarjuna A Harekeri, veteran of Dakshina Kannada Cooperative movement, Sitaram Rai, were also present.
 
Narayan P M, Sunilkeerti, officers N P Muniappa and C R Palangappa, Navodaya Cooperative Society president, Hemalatha Jain, Jayaprakash Hegde were present on the dais.
 
Navodaya SHG members served delicious traditional lunch to all the participants who arrived from far off areas.
 
Fancy dress show and other cultural events were held as part of entertainment programmes.
