Mangaluru, April 8: Festum, the second Makarios Management Club Day culminated in a grand finale on Tuesday, April 4 where the finalists of solo singing, duet dance, fashion show and student of the year performed on the main stage.
Festum, was organised by the MBA students of AIMIT under the leadership of faculty coordinators Dr Rowena Wright the dean of academics, and professor Rayan D’Souza. The student coordinators were Abhishek Retrekar and Nitish Moger.
The chief guest for the function Joe Gonsalves, chief traffic warden of Mangaluru inspired the student community with his youthful exuberance. The prize distribution was conducted at the valedictory function where Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director, Dr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ, chairman, MBA, and Dr Rowena Wright gave away the mementos to the various student coordinators of Makarios Management Club for the academic year and the prize winners for Festum.
Various cultural activities were conducted as a prelude to Festum in the past three weeks beyond the regular class hours such as painting, sketching, pot painting, turncoat, cooking without fire, face painting, rangoli, wealth out of waste, nail art, mehendi and treasure hunt where the students were tested on creativity, knowledge and teamwork.
The student of the year, one of the key contests, saw 23 participants who battled over 15 rounds of the event. The contestants were screened for physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual endurance to win the coveted title of the 'student of the year’ which was bestowed on Abhishek Retrekar.
The Outstanding Alumnus of the department of business administration for the past 10 years were felicitated with the 'Outstanding Alumni Award' for their respective batch. Sudhir S, Socrates, John Fernandes and Lahar Chengappa were bestowed the honor this year. They expressed their views on what it was like being an Aloysian and how being a Jesuit student, has helped them prosper in their respective careers.
