Mangalore, Mar 20: Thousands of Christians in the city observed Maundy Thursday, the day on which Jesus Christ offered his body and blood in the last supper, on Thursday March 20, with great fervour.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza performed the symbolic ritual of washing of disciples’ feet by Jesus Christ at Rosario Cathedral on Thursday evening. Meanwhile, Bishop celebrated the Eucharistic mass along with Fr Stanly Goveas, parish priest of Rosario Cathedral and other priests.

Although, moderate rains hit the city on Thursday evening, the churches across the city were full of faithful, who have arrived braving the odds caused by untimely showers to attend the Eucharistic celebration on Maundy Thursday, with utmost devotion.  However, by the time the celebrations were over the rains receded for the comfort of large number of faithful to reach home.
