Mangalore: Congress All Set to Welcome Rahul Gandhi to City

Mangalore, Mar 22: Eminent Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the city to participate in various programmes on Wednesday, March 26, said district Congress committee chairman Ramanath Rai while addressing media persons here on Wednesday March 22.


Elaborating on Rahul Gandhi's schedule, Rai informed that the Congress leader will be arriving in the city on Wednesday by helicopter and will interact with students at TMA Pai Conventional Hall. Later he will be interacting with fishermen from 1 pm to 2 pm. Finally, he will be attending the Congress party programme between 3 pm and 4 pm, Rai informed.

His security personnel will be reaching the city in advance on Sunday, March 23 to ensure adequate security arrangements. The venue for the interaction with fishermen and the Congress party programme will be decided later, after considering security concerns and forecast of rain, he added.



Congress work force will arrive in the city prior to Rahul Gandhi's visit and chalk out the itinerary of his short tour. In the meantime, senior Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes, Veerappa Moily and Janardhan Poojary are visiting various blocks in the district to assist in the arrangements, he informed.

Rahul Gandhi is targeting the youth to increase the party membership. Therefore, a call centre and an SMS centre will be opened in the city prior to his visit, Ramanath Rai added.

Congress leaders Jagannath Bondala, Suresh Ballal, Moiddin Bava, Ivan D’Souza and Sayeed were present.
